A new single inclined arch bridge is proposed over the Belt Parkway, a major New York City thoroughfare. The main span is 192' (58.5m) with a width of 10' (3m). The new bridge will incorporate higher clearances and ADA accessible ramps. The ramps and the bridge will flow seamlessly over the landscape with minimum impact to the views of the waterfront and the Verrazano-Narrows Suspension Bridge which is adjacent to the pedestrian bridge site. The position and angle of inclination of the arch was designed to minimize stresses on the arch under dead load creating structural and visual equilibrium.
